Best performances of Mushfiqur Rahim in ODIs: Some Memorable Knocks

Many people in Bangladesh still think that Mushfiqur Rahim is one of the most popular cricket players. When the team loses wickets early and finds itself in a dangerous situation, it is up to the wicketkeeper to play a crucial knock to save the team. Rahim has scored 4972 runs for his country in 188 games, which is an average of 33.82 runs per game. According to headlines cricket, he already has 6 hundred and 29 half-centuries.

  • 106 vs Pakistan, 2015 –

Bangladesh and Pakistan played against each other in three One-Day Internationals in 2015. The home team chose to bat first in the first one-day international match after they won the coin toss. After quickly losing two wickets, Rahim came out to bat early and hit 13 fours and 2 sixes on his way to 106 run off of 77 balls. Together with Tamim Iqbal, he added 178 runs to Bangladesh’s total score of 329, which was an impressively high number. The later player got his first One-Day International century by scoring 132 runs off 135 balls while playing against Pakistan. Pakistan’s response saw wickets fall at regular intervals, and after 250 runs, they were bowled out. Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny were the most important batters because they each took three wickets. Rahim’s incredible performance at the plate earned him the “Man of the Match” award for this game.

  • 107 vs Zimbabwe, 2015 –

In 2015, Bangladesh was the host country for all three One-Day International matches that were played between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. The home team batted first in the first one-day international, but they rapidly lost two wickets and found themselves in a precarious position at the score of 30-2. After the wicketkeeper assumed leadership responsibilities, he formed significant relationships with Tamim Iqbal and Sabbir Rahman. It was thanks to his 10 fours and 1 six that his team was able to score 107 out of a possible 109 runs. Even though he was finally run over and eliminated from the game, Sabbir Rahman reached his half-century by scoring 57 runs off of 58 balls. Mushfiqur scored a century, making it the fourth century he has scored in One-Day Internationals. The home team has set a target score of 274 points for the guests, which means they will need to beat that score. During this time, Shakib al Hasan was extremely detrimental to Afghanistan. He was successful in all 10 of his overs, taking five wickets while allowing only 47 runs to pass. The visiting side scored 128 runs in their final at-bat, but they were unable to pull off the victory. Because he was the most skilled player in the competition, Rahim was awarded a reward.

  • 110* vs South Africa, 2017 –

In 2017, Bangladesh took part in a series of three One-Day International matches in South Africa. In the first one-day international, they won the coin toss and chose to bat first. After the first few wickets fell, Rahim played a very important inning, scoring 110 runs while facing 116 balls. During their turn at bat, the home team played for 50 overs, lost 7 wickets, and scored 278 runs (including 11 fours and 2 sixes). After Amla and De Kock scored a total of 282 runs when the home team batted first, the away team couldn’t catch up. This made it impossible for the other team to win. Both Amla and De Kock scored runs, with De Kock scoring 168 runs and Amla scoring 110 runs. Even though Rahim scored a great century in the first innings, the bowlers were not able to do their jobs, and the team lost in a very public way.

  • 117 vs India, 2014 –

Rahim once again accomplished an outstanding job with the bat for Bangladesh in the second one-day international match of the 2014 Asia Cup. They swiftly found themselves in a difficult situation as Bangladesh lost two wickets and went from 49 to 2 after winning the coin toss and choosing to bat first. Following that, Rahim and Anamul Haque combined for 133 runs scored by the team. This particular position was referred to as the third wicket stand. He batted with extreme restraint and still managed to score 117 runs while facing only 113 balls (7 fours and 2 sixes). Even though wickets were tumbling at one end of the field, Rahim continued to bat and performed extremely significant innings. Therefore, he scored the second hundred of his career in a One-Day International (ODI). Despite Rahim scoring a century, Bangladesh was unable to come out on top in the end because India was able to score more runs than it needed to. The century that Kohli scored was a significant factor in this.

  • 144 vs Sri Lanka, 2018 –

At the 2018 Asia Cup, Rahim performed an excellent job of guiding his team to a reasonable score when Bangladesh was allowed to bat first. Rahim was able to score 144 runs off of 150 balls, including 11 fours and 4 sixes. This was accomplished even though Bangladesh’s innings got off to a shaky start. After putting up a vital 133-run partnership for the third wicket with Mohammad Mithun, he got the best score of his career in a one-day international to get the highest score of his career. When they were striving to get to a certain number, Sri Lanka’s score was 124. Mortaza, Mustafizur, and Miraz each grabbed two wickets for the squad, and Miraz captained the team throughout the entire match. Because Sri Lanka’s batting line struggled to get going, the team was unable to attain their target score of 262, which they had set as their goal. Because he performed so well and made it easier for the bowlers to defeat the courageous batting line-up of the other team, Rahim was awarded the title of Man of the Match, which was an honor that was richly deserved.
